Black Chungja by Jinho Choi
Jinho Choi’s Black Chungja(celadon) is a distinctive expression developed through his own ceramic practice. Rather than applying celadon glaze over the clay body traditionally used for celadon, Choi applies it over black clay, bringing together the dark clay body and celadon glaze to create a new expression.
The result is a deeper, more subdued color and a character distinct from traditional celadon.
Please Note
- Each piece is individually handcrafted by the artist, and slight variations in shape and size are to be expected.
- The translucent celadon glaze is made from natural materials, resulting in subtle variations in its flow, pooling, color, thickness, and sheen from piece to piece.
- Small iron spots, air bubbles, or raised areas may naturally occur during the firing process. Minor indentations may also be present around the foot of the piece.
- Colors may vary slightly depending on your monitor and the lighting conditions in which the piece was photographed.
- These variations are inherent characteristics of handmade ceramics and are not considered defects or grounds for return or exchange.
For pieces with crackle glazing: Over time, tea may gradually settle into the fine crackle lines, allowing the surface to develop a unique character through use.
Respectfully, all sales of these ceramics are final.
