Moomooyo

Moomooyo(Yongmoo Lee) is a ceramic artist based in Jillye, Gimhae, working with white porcelain and buncheong. His practice centers on tea wares, shaped by his appreciation for quiet, personal tea rituals. Drawn to the distinct forms and rhythms of tea tools, he gradually shifted his focus entirely to tea ware, embracing its slower, more deliberate process.

Lee works interchangeably with porcelain and buncheong, valuing the contrast between their characters—porcelain for its clarity and refinement, buncheong for its warmth and ease. His pieces emphasize gentle curves, balanced pouring, and a comfortable hand feel, often revealing subtle humor and individuality. Some works feature freely painted abstract motifs, used not for symbolism but as a playful exploration of color and surface. All of his pieces are made using clay sourced from Gimhae, grounding his work in the place where it is created.
